Description:
Philadelphia: Henry F. Anners, 1850. First American edition. Hardcover. Good+. 12mo. [4], iii-xii, [2], 3-652, [2] pp. Blindstamped blue cloth with gold lettering on the spine. Illustrated with several diagrams (including different board combinations in draughts) and a few wood engravings. Jessel 141. This hand-book states the rules of poker, euchre, and division loo in print for the first time. A large rule book for whist, quadrille, cribbage, and roulette, expanded to include some exclusively American card games (namely poker, euchre, and American bowls). Jessel refers to Bohn's hand-book as an extensive rule guide, and a leading authority for a few decades on card games. A presentable copy of the first extensive rule-book on poker and euchre. A Good or better copy with a name from 1934 on the free front endpaper and a tiny dampstain to the top margins of the endleaves; minor loss to the cloth at the foot of the spine.
