Binding appears to be fairly new while the textblock is clearly old. However, the pages are extremely clean and have been washed, trimmed, and restored, with only minor evidence of foxing and mild soil. Top edge gilt. One front prelim torn out. Most likely lithographed color frontispiece on heavy card stock. Some pages have soil and foxing, mostly in the margins. Waer at four corners with fore-edge corners bumped. Beautiful stamped titles, pictorial pastedown on front cover is rubbed and has a thin 2 inch scratch and other light scratches. Thread fraying at all four corners. 2 inch crack in rear internal bottom hinge. Slight board warp.. Hard Cover. Good/No Jacket. 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall.

St. Louis, Mo: National Baptist Publishing Co., 1887. This is a very well written and indeed "spiritual" book with a somewhat broad approach to religion. If it did not say Baptist, I would not guess that it was. A good solid brown binding with black stamped decorations and gilt spine titles. Back cover is brown only and the decorations are not colored. There is some serious rubbing to the back cover where the color has become chalk like. The front fore edge board is rubbed at the thumb spot, as is the top of the spine, and a small spot on the front cover and toward the top of the front external hinge. A former owner's name & address is stamped in ink on the front pastedown and an old price in ink also. A couple of page corners have been creased and there is a minor remnant of an old bookplate. All in all, this is a very sound and clean copy.. Hard Cover. Good/No Jacket. 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall.
