Sponsors Edition, which is numbered, this set being 634. No date is given for this edition, our guess is the 1920's. The original edition was 1894. Condition of all 12 vols is NEAR FINE ; all are still in the original cardboard slipcases. Only Vol. 1 has a little wear to the spine head and the slipcase is split and open. No shelf wear, all covers extremely clean. All bindings tight and text bright, with some having the pgs uncut. Vol. 2 has 2 pgs have pencil margin notes. Vol 4 has some pencil margin lines and one note. Vol 5 has one pg of text that is torn. All fold-out plates are excellent. Several of the slipcases have one seam partly split. US Hist. RGR.
