Five hand-colored souvenir postcards, split backs, showing scenes from Ash Lawn-Highland in Charlottesville, Virginia, the home of James Monroe (1758-1831), the fifth president of the United States. As the caption the back of each states, "it was planned for him by his friend and neighbor Thomas Jefferson and built in 1798 within three miles of Monticello, Charlottesville, Virginia." Includes "kitchen completely furnished with real antiques and original crane in fireplace," the Monroe bedroom with original furniture, a view of the evergreen garden "famed for its old boxwood and trees imported by President Monroe," the drive entrance facing toward Monticello, and the entrance against the Boxwood Garden. Each 3 1/2 by 5 1/2 inches.
