Description:
Providence RI: Charles Burnett, Jr.. Fair. 1848. Pamphlet. Item: Penmanship book Size: 6 1/2 by 7 1/2 inches Condition: The spine is split, 3 pages have been removed by, I would venture to guess, the original owner, edge wear, soiling, creasing and foxing to covers as shown in photos. ; This unique, vintage penmanship book was owned by Stephen D. Wilbur of Scituate, Rhode Island. The book is filled with page after page of young Mr. Wilbur's handwritting. I am assuming that Sterry is either a nickname or the name of a sibling as he uses Sterry B. Wilbur in the book also. You can tell young Stephen is far from thrilled about having to practice his penmanship as in certain places, it is just shy of atrocious. A fascinating look at your average boy. .
