Looks a bit tacky, but item shows some handling wear (mild) so text has been investigated. Casing is lightly scratched, else sound, and textblock is clean and unmarked.

San Diego: Frye & Smith, Printers (for the author), 1922. Pamphlet. 31p., conservative presswork on alkaline paperstock, enclosed in 8x5 inch textured grey wraps titled dark grey, staple-fastened. Poetry in quattrains. Respectable secondstring fine press design & materials, but rather edgeworn with creasings and short tears to both covers, dog-earing within. Front free endsheet bears a vigorous presentation, signed by the poet, in pencil. The usual encomium of our evolutionist tends to the 'he has torn the biblical blindfold from our eyes' but the praise is reversed: Darwin has 'put a telescope to our eyes', praise that segues into divine grandiosity.

Hardcover. 142p., illustrated with period sketches reproduced sepia on glazed inserted stock, hardbound first edition in black cloth boards gilt and enclosed in the dust jacket. Faint mist of foxing to top edge, the only flaw we see to book itself, while the dust jacket margins are slightly worn, and just a touch of handling soil to panels. Near-fine: sound, otherwise cleanly, and unmarked.

Hardbound in textured maroon cloth boards titled and ruled gilt, with additional decorative rulings in blind. Top edge is dust-soiled, casing is slightly edgeworn with mild handling smudges, one corner-tip is turned with accompanying bends to adjacent corner-tips, endsheets are spottily foxed; on the plus side, gilt remains perfectly legible, hinges are sound, textblock is clean and unmarked. A good copy.

Edgeworn with short snagged splits at top and tail of spine panel, several narrow gaps in textblock (threads show, yet are intact), signatures are mostly unopened, a fair to good copy: sound, though difficult to handle because of closed sigs, quite clean and unmarked. FYI, one of a series of Ekehorn's massive "discussions" of the venerable professor, including his personal poetical output; the series runs to more than seven substantial books, this volume not assigned a numeral (but others are).
