Find three essays: "The Negro Sanhedrin Movement" by Alvin Hughes. "Selective Service & American Blacks During WW II," George Flynn. "Politics of Despair: Black San Franciscans and the Political Process, 1920-1940." Also find discussions re two documents, matters regarding free Blacks in Ohio, and the refusal of a patent to a white Mississippi lawyer whose slave (no name) invented a very useful agricultural implement. A notice amongst preliminaries reads, "This issue of the Journal was financially assisted by a special grant from the Friends of the Schomburg, New York. Dr. Kenneth B. Clark, President.
