Description:
This is the three volume set of Bruce Catton's Pulitzer Prize winning historical narrative of the Civil War, originally published in 1951-53. Quarter stamped black and red cloth covered hardcover boards with blind stamps of front cover. Silver metallic lettering to spine. Hardcovers in Fine condition with only one bumped corner n one volume. Text very clean. Former owner's signature on inside endpaper, on the three volumes. Slight age toning to pages.
DJs in VG condition with slight siling and age toning. One closed tear on first voume. A fine addition to the Civil War historian of collector.
Mylar protected.

Antiquarian quarter bound, black leather on spine, marbled boards. Raised bands on spine. Binding is still tight, however the joint inside the front board is exposed. General foxing, Age toning, some damp staining throughout. All pages and all steel engravings, including Lincoln and Lee are accounted for. Two fold in and four other maps are present. Text is divided into three section, Diary of Events, Documents and Narratives, and Poetry, Incidents, and Rumors.First volume of Seven. Very readable copy, pages are tight, age toning and foxing throughout. Pasted down bookplate of former owner on front board. ID location sticker, perhaps a library code on front free endpaper. Front and back boards are heaving scuffed, but the boards are intact.Leather on top and bottom of spine is chipped.A beautiful edition of a Civil War history, written as it was happening.
