32 mo. 5 x 7 inch original rectangular souvenir stapled booklet of 16 unnumbered pages, with color captioned photos of the famous gardens in Pasadena, California which no longer exist. Los Angeles: Engraved and Printed by the Van Ornum Colorprint Co., 1915-1920. Good condition.

Buff-colored wrappers, front cover oval cutout surrounded by the title and line drawings of the gardens; through the cutout oval, part of the first colored illustration under the cover is visible.

Small quarto (9 1/4 by 6 inches) [San Diego, California], August 19 to August 26, 1911. Original Edition. 16 page stapled weekly advertising periodical, and calendar of programs, bound in wrappers for the "Tent City" adjacent to the famous Coronado Hotel. Good condition (there is a small scribbled date along the lower margin of the front cover, modest age toning, and minor wear to edges; none affecting contents which are clean and intact).

Volume XII, No. 10 for Saturday, August 19, 1911 with sections on "Locals and Personals," "Arrivals" (with names of guests), a "Program" for each day of the week for concerts and performances ("The Great Sousa Night"); and many interesting local advertisements for businesses in San Diego and vicinity including one for "Madame Zelma."

Original, wrappers, good condition, (old tape repairs to inside of back cover, minor wear and chipping to fragile spine, not affecting contents), embossed title in gilt on front cover.

Brief descriptive text outlining history, railroad rates, courses of study and biographies of some of the principal participants. Advertisements for Santa Catalina, Alamitos Land Co., and Southern Pacific, and for druggists, a bank, hotels, and other small businesses.

Octavo (9 x 4 inch) Los Angeles: Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce, 1924. Paper promotional advertising pamphlet folded twice to form eight panels printed on both sides, illustrated with halftone black and white photos of Mt. Lowe, a California Mission, a view of an automobile traveling through "mountains and valleys," a young lady posing with Southern California flowers, a "Typical Southern California Hotel;" and an idealized composite image, in black and white, on the covers - of a passenger ship docking, a beach scene and a view of a valley with snow capped peaks in the background - all overseen by a young lady perched on some rocks. Original, very good condition.

"Los Angeles County As A Summer and Winter Resort," with a description of roads, street car rides, an interurban trip via Pacific Electric Railway or Auto Bus, attractions, hotels and apartments, railroads and depots; and what it all costs.

Octavo (9 x 9 inch) Los Angeles, (circa 1929). Original stapled brochure folded once to form 20 pages of photos and descriptive text highlighting points of historical interest, gardens and parks, "interesting farms," California missions, and transportation facilities. Good condition, wrappers.

The romanticized cover art is by Arthur Beaumont, a well-respected California watercolor artist.

Octavo (9 X 4 inches) Los Angeles (mid 1930s) folded paper pamphlet, that when unfolded, creates 14 unpaginated sections illustrated with photos, descriptions, and statistics about the cities, recreation, beaches, mountains, education, culture, agriculture, commerce, and transportation available in Southern California. Art Deco covers, very good condition (unobtrusive crease to one corner).
A proud promotion of the many advantages in "The Land of Sunshine."

Small octavo (7 3/4 x 5 1/4 inches) Los Angeles, May, 1927. 96 page stapled promotional guidebook, illustrated with black and white halftone photos of sights and scenery in Southern California, and many interesting local ads. Original, wrappers, good condition (old bend to front cover, small residue of stuck paper on page 11, inked name on page 19, small tear to corner of last page, general age toning to covers - overall very readable and interesting).

The descriptive text covers, in part: Pomona, Orange County, Pasadena, Duarte, Glendale, Los Angeles, Riverside County, the Missions, San Fernando, the Valley, San Pedro, San Diego, San Bernardino County, and Death Valley.

In the center is a two page map "Lines of the Pacific Electric Railway in Southern California", with an ad for Mt. Lowe Tavern. There is a section for Southern Pacific Trips, and a "Route Map, with Mileage, from Los Angeles Half Way to San Francisco".

(4 3/4 x 3 1/4 inches) Los Angeles: Ward Ritchie Press, Printed for Members of the Roxburghe Club and the Zamorano Club September 1964. 26 pages of historical text [plus 16 pages printed on yellow paper purportedly reproducing, in facsimile, a "Souvenir Sporting Guide" (a guide to the prositutes and madames) for gentlemen visitors to the Fiesta de Los Angeles in 1897, illustrated with two vintage black and white half-tone photos, dust jacket.

Very good condition, title in gilt on hardcover cloth spine. Partial dedication reads: "Presented by Robert J. Woods, W. W. Robinson, Everett G. Hager, John H. Urabec and The Ward Ritchie Press Los Angeles."

Octavo (9 x 4 inches) Original, promotional staplebound brochure printed on stiff paper, with embossed gilt monogram "A" on upper left corner of front cover, folded once to form 12 unnumbered pages, illustrated with drawings and black and white halftone photos, map of Southern California and vicinity with local attractions in relation to the hotel's location.

Evocative of the early 1920s Hollywood: Art Nouveau style sepia drawings on the cover, and at lower margin on every page, projecting the elegance of the hotel; of guests enjoying fine dining, dancing, and golf, while socializing in furs and formal wear.

Very good condition (discreet Peck Judah rubber stamp on front cover, not affecting contents).

The hotel was on Wilshire Boulevard, and the location of the famous Coconut Grove nightclub. Both hotel and nightclub are gone, replaced by a high school.
