Stamped gilt titling and decoration. Published by the small boutique publishers, Cecil Palmer & Hayward, who favoured belles lettres. One of the first books printed by Morland Press in London (founded 1916). The boards and spine have wear, scuffing, handling and shelving wear. The spine has wear to head and foot, the titling is dulled. They are benign and sure. The top paper trims are gilded (a little dull). Previous owner signature on the frontispage (Charles E Rowcroft (ex Rio-Tinto pharmacist and later gloriously contented resident of Huelva). The contents are in wonderful condition. Mary Tongue's illustrations are vivid, energetic, vivacious, bright. The frontispiece page has a user crease. Some pages have very shallow rims of aging. Otherwise, the pages are comfortable, clear, clean, creamy, fresh-faced, elegant, attractive, generous. fk
