It is also INSCRIBED and SIGNED by Mrs. Grover Cleveland at the top of the front cover: "Mr. H. W. Green./from/Frances F. Cleveland." President Grover Cleveland, 49, married Frances Folsom, 21, in June 1886 at the White House, the only President to be married in the White House. When the Clevelands left the White House in 1897, they retired to Princeton where Grover Cleveland died in 1908. In 1913 Frances married a Princeton University professor of archaeology becoming the first presidential widow to remarry. There was an H. W. Green active in New Jersey politics in the middle of the nineteenth century, and this is likely the inscribee.
