Philadelphia: John Comly, 1831. Hardcover. Very Good. Vol. 1 only. viii, 534, [2] p.; 22 cm. Contemporary full tree calf with five spine compartments between double gilt rules. Red leadther label in second compartment with gilt-tooled title: Job Scott's Works. Errata on one page following text. "And to be had of" John Townsend, Elijah Weaver, and Isaac T. Hopper. Inscribed on front free endpaper: "Belonging to Gwynidd Preparative Meeting of Friends. To be retained 6 weeks." Former owner's embossed stamp at lower edge of front free endpaper: "CTS Library of Charles Subock." Modern plain leather repair at ends of spine. Job Scott (1751-1793) was an American Quaker travelling minister. His works were very influential on the Hicksite branch of the Society of Friends at the time of the 1827 schism, leading to this publication of Scott's works in a fuller edition than had previously occured. In Very Good Condition: insensitive modern repair at ends of spine; leather scraped at edges of boards; light foxing throughout; otherwise clean and tight.
