The papers were transcribed and published volume by volume over a 54-year interval from 1921 ending with the completion of the master subject-nominal index (vol 14) in 1965, a fact accounting for the scarcity of complete sets. They are rich in pre-revolutionary documentation relating to early trade, settlement, immigration and Indian affairs.
