New York, New York, U.S.A.: Dodd, Mead & Company, 1976. First Edition First Printing . Hardcover. Very Good+/Near Fine. Oblong. Oblong hardcover depicts a collection of cycling cards, 16 of which originally appeared in "Sports Illustrated,'' presented here in book form for the first time. Fully illustrated on every page & both covers by Edward Gorey, writing under one of his many pen names, "Odgear Wryde." With decorative paper-covered boards, this is the FIRST TRADE EDITION, First Printing, from 1976 (with appropriate points). Unpaginated. An anomaly, which you may or may not consider a flaw, but definitely makes it different: the text block is upside down. Else, this oblong hardcover book is in VG+ condition: completely clean & bright save for moderate tanning to inner margins (near hinge) of all endpapers, not at all uncommon on this title. Pages white & completely unmarked, binding strong & straight. Colors are bright, with no fading. The unclipped DJ… Read More

Description:
New York, New York, U.S.A.: Platt & Munk Co. Inc., 1945. First Edition First Printing . Hardcover. Good/No Jacket. Wonderful fold-out board book for young readers with vintage images of small town American life circa 1945 in "Riverdale." The book's 10 colorful panels, each depicting a progressive section of the locomotive, are attached with burgundy cloth, which has faded. On one set of panels, there is evidence that it has been reglued (photo 5), & it is a bit shaky here. But all the others are strong & secure! Colors are bright, no fading (except to the cloth binding. Very clean, completely unmarked. The only other real flaw is heavy rubbing to all lower edges & along the fore edge; the worst occurs on the front cover near the top outer corner, where the paper is rubbed down to the underlying board. A very nice example of a favorite book of mid-century children! Please see our photos--they show the Exact book you will receive from us, never "stock" images of… Read More
