GOOD/NP. Between 1861 & 1874, Chapman & Hall added 15 illustrations to their "high quality.. edition of Dickens' works." This is a reprint of that edition from the early Twentieth Century. 5 ½ x 8", 906 total pages (each story paginated separately), this is a plain blue hardback with particulars in yellow on spine only and no dust jacket; on the spine says "library edition", on title page says "illustrated library edition." Gold gilt on top page edges, several instances of uncut pages, Good condition, cover trying (so far unsuccessfully) to separate. No dust jacket.

Worldcat says this is the FIRST AMERICAN EDITION . Near Fine pages, Very Good cover, making the overall condition Very Good Plus. There is no dust jacket (as designed?) 4 7/8" x 4 1/8", 341 pages (page 341 says "End of First Cycle"). Floral endpapers, stains to front endpapers, bumped cover corners, stained back cover, scraped cover edge, solid binding, owner's info on 3rd fep, no other marks. Cover = brown cloth boards with debossed designs, black title on gold gilt background.

Cover (blue cloth boards with gold AND silver gilt embossed design and title front, similar embossed design on spine w/ "Thackeray" WMT monogram in gold gilt on 4 front corners) = near Fine, wear to top and bottom of spine.

Some wear to covers, yet square and tight. No marks to pages, some foxing to outer pages, all tight, square, sharp. Velum covered frontispiece illustration in each volume.
