When did you get started in bookselling?

I started book selling while struggling as a small college professor in the early 1990's, when I made a bid on a collection of 7000+ books at an estate sale. Some of those volumes from that initial 'jump start' I still have!

What drew you to bookselling?

A need to supplement my income when finding valuable, but affordable antiques at estate sales became impossible. Valuable books were much easier to find when few were knowledgeable enough to identify them.

Did you have any mentors in becoming a bookseller?

Not really - I did take a week long course in antiquarian book selling in Colorado Springs about 16 years ago, however, which was invaluable!

What are your specialties as a dealer?

Non-fiction, sciences.

What's the most amazing book you've ever sold?

A four volume set of hand colored orchid plates which I paid $4 for. They sold for $1850..

What is your favorite part of being a bookseller?

I like the hunt, and appreciate that selling on-line requires very little time.

Do you have an open storefront or have you in the past?

Nope...the closest would have been an antique mall site.
