Hernando (Ferdinand) Colon was Christopher Columbus's youngest son. His life of his father was written at a time when his father's legacy was under serious challenge from many quarters, including the court of the Spanish Crown. Text clean and clear.Nicolas del Techo (born Nicolas du Toict) was a Jesuit humanist. His name was "Hispanicised" by his fellow Jesuits to Nicolas del Techo shortly after he was ordained in the Society of Jesus at the age of 19. He arrived in the Province of Paraguay (a region that then included parts of present-day Paraguay and Uruguay) in 1649 where he sought to convert the indigenous people (the Guarani Indians) to Christianity. François Le Vaillant (1753-1824), French naturalist, explorer, ornithologist and collector. He is attributed with providing the first published description of a giraffe, a skeleton of which he imported to France.
