[Shanghai?], [1904?]. Chinese style book printed on rice paper with folded double leaves, in western cloth binding. Prolegema, Preface, and parts I to V, not paginated. A very good copy in original cloth. Chinese text with English translation and extensive notes of the Shujing, or Historical Classic, a cornerstone of Chinese political philosophy for two millennia, and one of the Five Classics at the heart of the Confucian system. The text was supposedly compiled by Confucius from historical material available during his lifetime. This appears to be the 1904 edition, but could be a slightly later reprint.
