One of the largest and most lavishly illustrated of the 19th century Shakespeare editions and one that is very rare, especially in this condition. Some scuffs and cracks to leather binding and wear to edges as well as inscriptions on front endpapers. Covers are all attached and binding tight except for one small section of one volume that is dislodged. Pages clean and unmarked overall. Very good condition. 11" wide x 15" tall x 5" (across all books)

Household Words was a British weekly magazine edited by Dickens which featured a mix of fiction and non-fiction stories by a variety of writers including the story "Hard Times." Ex library with clean envelopes pasted to insides of back covers. Otherwise unmarked with clean pages throughout. A few hinges worn with 3 reattached. This is the Japan paper, edition of 100, this being hand numbered at # 24. In very good+ condition with wear to the front and back hinge but no detachment, and wear to corner edges- otherwise intact, clean and unmarked. Slight rippling of paper edges as can be expected with Japan paper. A beautiful example of fine printing and binding processes, with multiple repeated engravings, heavy, elegant paper, marbled endpapers and beautiful dark blue, leather, three quarter binding.
