A good copy of an engraving from the 6th volume of Georg Braun and Franz Hogenberg's Civitates Orbis Terrarum ("Cities of the World"), the first atlas to feature views and descriptions of cities. According to I. Kryp'yakevych and Ya. Isaievych, the engraving was made by Hogenberg based on a drawing by the Italian architect Aurelio Passarotti, who was involved in designing new fortifications for the city in 1607-08. A rare view of L'viv (Lwów, Lvov, Lemberg) copied by the Italian engraver, printer, and print publisher Giacomo Lauro (1561-1635) from Braun and Hogenberg's "Civitates orbis terrarum." The unfinished view was published in "Heroico Splendore delle Città del Mondo" after Lauro's death.
