Slight rubbing at spine title that has caused some minor loss of gilt, loss of an 1/8" piece at the spine ends, 1/4" x 1" dark spot at the front fore-edge, slight rubbing at the extremities, boards have slightly pushed forward. Internally stamp of previous ownership at front paste-down, faint inked ownership at front free endpaper, scattered brown spotting throughout the pages, text and plates are still tight in binding.

Similar browning at dustjacket, occasional closed tear at edges, loss of small piece 3/4" x 1/2" of jacket at front lower corner, original price of $1.00 still present at front flap.

Pages: unpaginated, 13 pages. 12 3/4" x 9 3/4”. Binding: Illustrated white and blue wrappers with red titles at the front. Light occasional soiling at the wrappers and slight rubbing at the extremities. Faint vertical creaseing where the title may have been lightly folded at one time. Internally clean and tight in the wrappers.

Saalfield, New York (1928). ----- Each leaf illustrated in color, cut out area that matches a plane on the next leaf. Pages: unpaginated. 10 1/4" x 10 1/2”. Binding: Illustrated wrappers with black titles at front and rear of wrappers. Slight soiling at wrappers, moderately rubbed at extremities, some creasing at both front and rear wrap. Internally leaves have browned and are fragile, loss of small piece of cornmers at each leaf. Clean and still tight in wrappers.


Illustrated Songs & Rhymes

Cowell's Anastatic Press, Ipswich, circa 1860. -----Rare. There are no copies listed in World Cat First Search, nor any on the web. Google also avails nothing. Not in Osborne. 20 pages of line drawings, reproduced by the anastatic process. 20 plates, printed on one side. The first is a picture of a small girl holding a large daisy, and a young boy, across a fence. Sript reads "Give me a Flower Sweet Heart. " Another is a boy and girl sitting on a tea pot handle and in a cup, with the text "Dresden China. " Another, three girls, two boys, on bench chair and floor, with "We're all a noddin. " The printer, S. H. Cowell, is known for his Anastatic printing, and wrote one of the earliest pamphlets on the method. ----- 7 3/8 x 9 1/4 inches. Binding: Buckram spine, dark gray-green paper over boards. Front board coming loose, but attached with archival filmoplast tape. Not obnoxious. (and could easily be rebacked). Rubbed at extremities, corners. Previous owners signature on title page, above rule. Free endpapers discolored, not otherwise foxed. Clean. No marks nor other writing nor stamps.
