Description:
The Lalique Collectors Society Embossed Print - "En hommage à mon grand-pére", by Marie- Claude Lalique was made in honor of her grandfather, René Lalique, who was a world famous glass maker. This matted and ready-to-frame embossed picture is white with an embossed woman's profile and flowers. The hair is metallic gold. En hommage à mon grand-pére and M Lalique are written on the mat. The matted picture measures approximately 10 x 8 inches. The item, which was produced in about 1900, is in a new and unused condition, and is sealed in a plastic wrapping.
Marie-Claude Lalique, keeper of the Lalique family tradition in glass and crystal artistry until her retirement in 1994, died on April 14 on Captiva Island, Fla. She was 67 and lived on Captiva and in Provence. This Handmade Distinctive Envelope with the Signature of Carrie Jacobs-Bond, American Songwriter is a unique testament to this famous beloved American composer.The front face of the constructed envelope contains a cut-out photo of Carrie Jacobs-Bond, her dated signature, and three postal cancellations with stamps depicting Susan B. Anthony, Steven Collins and John Phillip Sousa. The significance of the cancellations, as written in red on the envelope flap, is that they spell out the composer's name, i.e., Carrie, Ky (March 25, 1940 – Easter Sunday), Jacobs, Ky (July 4, 1940 – Independence Day), and Bond, KY (August 11, 1940 – her birthday). The rear face of the envelope, with the flaps extended, shows not only the glue marks resulting from the envelope's construction but a partial listing/price list of Songs by Carrie Jacobs-Bond.
