Philadelphia (presumably): no publisher [presumably the Democratic National Committee or F.D.R.’s campaign committee], 1936. First Edition. Deluxe full leather (or imitation leather); titled in gilt; one of an unspecified numbered edition signed by F.D.R. Aside from light binding wear and trivial page spotting, a fine copy; seldom found in such good condition. This copy is embossed with the name of a member of the Miller Brewing family of Milwaukee, apparently a political supporter.

Description:
Washington: The White House, 1937. First Edition. 35 mimeographed leaves, printed on rectos only, glued into later plain wrappers. Fine in a custom quarter morocco slipcase. Presentation copy; inscribed by F.D.R., “For William Simmons from Franklin D. Roosevelt.” The recipient was a White House communications director assigned to the cruise. Reportedly only 10 or 12 copies were issued, and, given its fragile and ephemeral nature, it is doubtful that many survived. The presidential yacht cruised between Port Aransas (near Corpus Christi) to New Orleans, escorted by naval vessels; most of the rest of the trip was by train, and included some political events. Aside from fishing, F.D.R. did conduct official business, including addressing a condolence note on the loss of the Hindenburg to Chancellor Hitler.
