London: Gollancz, 1947. First Edition. Hard Cover. Dust Jacket. First UK Edition. Publisher's blue boards with gilt spine lettering. Boards exceptionally bright and clean. No fading and no marks to the boards. No inscriptions. A particularly nice near fine copy of the book. The VG Gollancz yellow dustwrapper is priced 8/6 net to the spine (as called for) and has the usual browning to the spine, a touch of wear at the head and tail and a few minor marks to the back panel. A pretty nice copy overall. The office party was in full, swing so no one heard the shot fired at close range through the back of Lionel Hargreaves, elder son of the founder of Hargreaves Advertising Agency. The killer left only one clue: a pair of yellow gloves but it looked almost as if he had wanted them to be found. As Inspector Bland sets out to solve the murder, he encounters a deadly trail of deception, suspense and two more dead bodies. Inspector Bland # 2. Photographs/scans available upon request.
