The front cover features a b/w photograph of "the Robinson boys"--Frank, left, and Brooks--who helped bat the Baltimore Orioles to the American League pennant and the World Series championship over the Los Angeles Dodgers. Frank, who was voted the A. L.'s Most Valuable Player, won the league's Triple Crown, batting .316, hitting 49 homers, and driving in 122 runs. Brooks produced 23 homers and 100 RBIs on an average of .269 and was the league's fielding leader at third base with a percentage of .976. The text includes a listing of all active field players, pitchers and managers in the major leagues in 1966 with biographical information, printed autograph, and career statistics. Catcher Elston Howard listes as Manager Dick Williams (jacket) discusses the situation with ace pitcher Jim Lonborg in the sixth inning. At the time, the Cards led, 4-1, with runners on first and second with none out. The situation called for a bunt but, after this conference ended, Julian Javier didn't bunt. He slugged a homer to put the Redbirds ahead 7-1. Lonborg stayed in to reture the side but left for a pinch-hitter in the last half of the sixth. The Sox lost the game 7-2.
