A nice copy of Ida Ellis's book on 'chirognomy and chiromancy explained in the form of question and answer'. This is the 'extensively revised and enlarged' third edition from 1918. Pages are very good: a little minor scattered foxing here and there but pages are overwhelmingly clear and bright with no markings or inscriptions at all. Light brownsih strip on FEP. Binding is tight. Boards are excellent for their age: clean, with spine writing still very good. Most minor corner crimping. Really excellent. All illustrations are very good. A good copy of the first edition of Lodge's study of human personality, upbringing and history. Pages are very good, no inscriptions or markings, just a little normal age wear. Tissue page between photo and title page all intact. Binding tight. Boards clean and good for age. Spine has some give but binding tight. Overall a very good copy. A SIGNED scarce first edition of Benham's work looking at the apparent connections between palmistry and choice of vocation. "Shows how any parent can easily select the occupation for which a child is best fitted and prepare him for success". Pages are generally very good with a couple of exceptions: three pages found with some light green underlining (see photo), and two pages have some residue of brown tape for some reason though no stickiness etc (see photo), all others are clean and bright as far as we can see. Front FEP has Benham's signature in an inscription, and a neat personal library plate (see photo). Binding is tight. Rare DJ is good but its major pieces are separated (potentially repairable), with the mylar removable cover keeping it in a good visual shape. A segment is missing on spine (see photo). A good copy of the 1904 first edition of Stocker's work on graphology. Pages are clean with no markings, inscriptions or foxing, just some very minor natural age wear. All of the many illustrations are in place. Pages are bound in tightly, with a little give to the spine. Boards are intact with a little shelf wear and some darkening and the odd mark (see photos). A very nice copy go the first edition of Oxenford and Cosgrave's analysis of the apparent difference in hand features between professions. Contains many black and white illustrations of the palms of a range of vocations. Pages are excellent for this edition: clean, unmarked and just the most minor age wear. FEP is darkened (see photos) bit no other pages are. No notes, inscriptions or foxing. Binding is tight. Boards are clean, just minor crumpling to corners and top and base of spine. Seemingly scarce copy in DJ of the second edition of 1959 (published Calcutta) of Devacharya's comprehensive summary of palmistry. This was expanded from the first edition of 1946. A nice copy of the first edition of this collection of James's thoughts on psychics, telepathy and spiritualism, subjects which very much excited his interest. Pages are very good: despite foxing to fore and top edge (see photos) pages themselves have no foxing or tanning and are remarkably good. Slight tanning on front pastedown and FEP but otherwise excellent. This is NOT an ex library book. No inscriptions to FEP, and no notes or underlining etc.Binding is tight. DJ is good: unclipped, a little pen mark near the price (see photo), and some general shelfwear, whiteness showing in small patches, and minor tears and small missing segment (especially at base of spine, see photos).
