Baring-Gould was - amongst other things - a researcher and collector of folklore. It was this which led to him writing this book, often regarded as one of the seminal works on lycanthropy. First published in 1865, this is the Causeway 1973 edition. A lovely copy. Pages are bright and clean with no markings, inscriptions or foxing. Perhaps the very slightest of age related light tanning to page edges. DJ is unclipped and has only very minor signs of scuffing and one or two nicks. Spine is a little sunfaded. Dracula expert Leatherdale looks at the historical and folkloric background to the Dracula novel. He describes the rise of the vampire legend and looks at the many influences on author Stoker. A very nice copy. Pages are excellent: bright, clean, uncreased and unmarked. Cover equally good: there is a small price sticker from presumably the original bookshop on the rear cover (possibly removable). See photos

Ronay was actually born in Transylvania and participated in the Hungarian Revolution of 1956, later decorated by the new President of Hungary. He became a linguist and historian and has published works on a range of topics, including books on Dracula. The Dracula Myth was one of these, and is a scholarly work tracing the influential cult of the vampire from pagan lore down to the present day. This is the first edition. This is a former library book but in fact has many positive attributes. See photos of all points mentioned here. Pages are bright and tidy, for the most part totally clean and unmarked. Exceptions are: a small cross in biro on FEP, a brown mark on first inside page, a library number stamp on title page, and an Essex county library sticker on the rear endpaper. McNally was a Professor of East European history at Boston College who specialised in books about horror, and researched the origins of the Dracula legend. Here he focuses on the story of Countess Elizabeth Bathory, the ancient 'vampire' of Transylvania who was reputed to have murdered hundreds of young women in the belief that their blood would keep her young. He looks to separate the known facts from the legend. A fascinating work. A really nice copy in nr Fine condition. Pages are bright and clean with no markings or inscriptions, only a very neat stamp from a previous owner on the title page. Otherwise perhaps read just once. Holocaust survivor Eisler had previously studied and lectured on in history. A polymath, who wrote on mythology, comparative religion politics, astrology and many other topics. In Man Into Wolf he argues for a prehistoric variation of human violence. This is a first rate copy of the 1978 Ross-Erikson paperback edition, with a foreword by Donald Lathrop. Main text is a reprint of the original 1948 edition. Pages are almost pristine, with no markings or browning. Bram Stoker expert Leatherdale turn his attention to the origins of the Dracula story, and shows the traditions of the Count were deep rooted and historical. An excellent copy of the first edition. Pages are clean and bright and, apart from a neat ex-libris stamp on the title page (see photo) there are no marks, inscriptions or spotting. Copper was a well known writer on the supernatural, as well as a range of fiction genres. Here he turns his attention the the Werewolf, and deals eloquently with the myths, history and artistic embellishment in the world of lycanthropy. A really interesting read. Book is ex-library but in fact in very good condition. See all photos. Pages are bright clean and unfoxed. Existing library residue comprises: marks on FEP where a sticker or card has been removed; a rectangular couple of ex-library stamps and a neat ex-libris stamp on the page with publication information; a small stamp on the bottom edges of the book, and a small stamp on the final index page - all of these are in the photos. Apart from this, all other pages are excellent. DJ is in a remarkably good state: unclipped, and with hardly any noticeable wear except minor rubbing and perhaps a little tanning to rear.
