Description:
New York: William Morrow, 1975. First American edition. Hardcover. Near Fine/very good. Cloth. 248 p. Black & white and Color photographs as well as black and white illustrations. An incredible source with wonderful pictures of the intricate detail of pieces. From the jacket, "Joan Edwards believes that the embroiderers of old are as interesting as their embroidery. This is a special book about a special craft. It is a book for artists, craftsmen, historians and those interested simply in beauty." That pretty well describes this book. Some of the Contents (because the titles are intriguing) : All the King's Horses and all the King's Men; The English at Home; A Peculiar Talent for Design; East of the Sun and West of the Moon; Apes for Imitation; The Elusive Abigail Pett; Pretty, Wayward and Romantic; Four Prima Donnas. And much more. Near fine with light tanning in very good jacket with a tiny tear in the jacket at the bottom of the spine. Plastic covered.
