Description:
New York: Taplinger Publishing, 1968. First American edition. Hardcover. Good. 160 pages. Table of Contents. Part 1 General Considerations -- Our Tools; The Nature of Wood; About Woodwork; Shapes and Ornaments. Part 2 Simple Woodwork -- Toys of All Kinds; Musical Instruments; For Party Times. Part 3 -- For Garden and Cellar; Simple Furniture. There are illustrations and black & white photographs throughout the book. The photographs indicate the book is geared for older children interested in woodworking but with adult supervision. "Simple woodwork" is misleading. The projects in the book look more complicated and quite professional. These projects make me think of Eagle scouts working on a badge or along similar lines, but very meticulous Eagle scouts. Cloth-covered boards with the wear expected given age, shelf worn and rubbed in a couple of places. There are several small spots where rubbed through to the board. The book has a slight bow to it such that the back cover…
