Description:
New York: Signet, 1995. First edition. Paperback. Although she knows the sensible and expected thing to do would be to marry the quite eligible but increasingly irritating and proprietary Harlan Gatesby, free-spirited Merissa Pritchard resists. When the intriguing Captain Alexandre Valmont, an escaped French prisoner-of-war, unexpectedly complicates her life, she suddenly realizes what and who she has been waiting for. A hero and heroine who make you care, a number of well-done secondary characters (including an obnoxious rejected suitor and a younger sister who begs to have a story of her own), and a plot that is both simple and unique characterize this well-researched country Regency. Little-known historical details and a high degree of sexual tension add to the mix." -- Library Journal. Book is in very good condition with minor edge wear. The spine ends are rubbed. The Inside covers are tanning and the page edges are just beginning to tone.

Description:
New York: St Martin's Press, 1987. First edition. Hardcover. Fine/very good +. The long-awaited conclusion to The Sanguinet Saga, written at the urgent request of many readers who were anxious to learn the fates of some of Patricia Veryan's most memorable characters. "The Sanguinet saga (Sanguinet's Crown, The Noblest Frailty) rolls on with attention this time to devastatingly handsome Alain Devenish and his ward, Josie Storm. It takes a welter of stratagems, entrapments and collusion from a variegated household staff of eccentric retainers and overly domesticated animals before a predictable finale is reached. Familiars, good and evil, from the earlier volumes are on the scene, but it is pert Josie, the waif stolen by gypsies whom Devenish adopted four years earlier, and who now lays siege to his heart, who stirs the action. Josie has a coming-out party at which obese George IV… Read More

Description:
Signet, 1991. Paperback. Very Good +. Beautiful Miss Claire Yelland was most accomplished at the art of imposture. She played an actress named Clairisse Deschamps so well that all London thought her a light-skirted lady of the stage, and rich rakes swarmed after her. But now she had a far more demanding role. The handsome, heartless Sir Egon Hollister offered a sum she could not refuse to act as his wife. To fool his sharp-eyed grandmother was hard enough. To convince Sir Egon that his charm left her unmoved was even harder. Forced to feign love in public and indifference in private, Claire strained to listen to the prompting of prudence and ignore the urgings of her heart... Book is in very good condition with mild edge wear. Upper front corner has a crease. The pages are starting to tan.

Description:
Zebra, 1999. Paperback. Very Good +. Returning home from the Peninsula to find his younger brother at death's door as the result of a duel, war-weary Col. Adam Attenbury, Viscount Stoneforth, sets out quietly to make the acquaintance of the young woman over whom the duel had been fought and ends up literally and figuratively at the feet of Miss Melody Harriman, the lady in question. But Adam's brother has already staked his claim, and honorable brothers don't poach on each other's preserves. Nevertheless, unpredictable fate has other ideas; and when Melody's unconventional triplet cousins decide to "do" something about the situation, things become interesting, indeed. Set against the sparkling gaiety and rigid rules of the Regency ton, this longer Regency features good historical detail, lively humor, and a host of charming characters (the outspoken Bea Lange is especially memorable) that are all appropriately paired up by the end of the story. New York: Signet, 1985. First printing. Paperback. Very Good. An enterprising young lady. Molly Trevor's father had made a fortune and lost his good name by becoming a Midas-like moneylender rather than remaining a penniless aristocrat. Molly vowed to wed this splendid lord at any cost, even if it meant changing her name and hiding her past. Molly had the will, the wit and the wealth to pull the wool over society's eyes--but even she found how hard it was to keep love blind.... Description:
New York: Berkley Large-Type Edition, 1975. Paperback. Fair. A Berkley Medallion Book. Miss Gillian Spencer was faced with quite a challenge. Impossible was the word she gave it, but her ever-hopeful employer, the Viscount Shebourne, would hear none of that. The facts were that the Viscount hadn't a farthing at his command, and his London house was a ruin. If his two charming and beautiful daughters were to rescue the family's standing by marrying wealth-"making advantageous connections" the doggedly euphemistic Viscount would have it -- Miss Spencer's work was certainly cut out for her. At the advanced age of 27, Gillian herself had dismissed the possibility of marriage for herself, of course - but who can predict where her talent of romantic intrigue on others' behalf might lead her? Book is in Fair… Read More

New York: Warner Forever, 2004. First edition. Paperback. Near Fine. Eliza Merriweather has no intention of giving up her plans to study art in Italy for a husband, but her two great aunts, Letitia and Viola, are determined that their spinster lot in life will not befall their grandniece. Then Eliza meets Magnus MacKinnon, Lord Somerton, and sees the perfect solution to her dilemma. If Magnus will agree to pretend to court Eliza, thus distracting her lavender-loving, matchmaking great aunts, Eliza will help Magnus by compiling a list of potential wealthy brides, since Magnus must snare a rich woman if he is to save his family's estates. But Eliza couldn't have imagined that her two very determined great aunts would mistake a book of military strategy for a textbook on how to get engaged, or that she would fall in love with Magnus. With its delightfully original and beautifully matched protagonists, surfeit of amusing supporting characters, and clever, tartly humorous writing, Caskie's… Read More

St Martin's Press, 1985. First edition. Hardcover. Good/fair. Having escaped the clutches of the evil Frenchman Monsieur Sanguinet, Charity Strand is in no mood to endure the boorish behavior of the arrogant Mitchell Redmond. But when Sanguinet plots again, Redmond must save Miss Strand. Book is in good condition, covers are very good or better but the binding is a little loose so that in a couple of places, the pages fall open and are splayed. Description:
Recorded Books, 2001. Audio Cassettes. Very Good. The first Lavina Lake and Tobias March novel. Barbara Rosenblat is superb, as always. "Spirited heroines and sardonic heroes populate this sexy Regency-era thriller by the ever reliable Quick, alter ego of Jayne Ann Krentz. This time out, Quick offers the parry and thrust of danger and romance, as embodied in resourceful Lavinia Lake and roguish Tobias March. Lavinia first encounters Tobias when he bursts into her antiques shop in Rome, trashing her wares, all the while claiming to be on the trail of a murderer and warning Lavinia that she is in danger. There's also talk of treason, a criminal organization known as the Blue Chamber and an evil mastermind named Azure. Despite her skepticism, Lavinia returns with her niece, Emeline, to London, where she is caught up in more intrigue. She sets herself up as a private detective and even though stubbornness on both sides leads to an oil-and-water pairing, she soon finds herself in business with… Read More

New York: Signet, 1996. First edition. Very Good. The last place Gilbey Kentwell, Viscount Cranford wants to spend two weeks is at Rivington, the family seat of the St. Aldwyns where the purpose of the house party is to find husbands for the St. Aldwyn twins. He would rather stay at Cambridge and bury his head in a book. His protests are overcome by the persuasive powers of his best friend, Nicholas St. Aldwyn, who wants Gilbey to help him keep his twin sisters out of trouble. Gilbey comforts himself with the knowledge his rank and fortune are too low for him to be counted among the suitors and looks forward to Rivington's fine trout fishing. Lady Venitia St. Aldwyn and her twin, Lady Vivian, have been given an ultimatum by their father. The sisters are notorious for refusing all offers of marriage and devising ingenious, often embarrassing tests for their suitors. Now they must choose husbands from the invited guests.
