Small, 1" or less, edge tears on the clean, complete DJ. ; First Printing of the FIRST EDITION. 8-1/2" Tall, 4778pp. Light tan cloth, orange spine lettering. HISTORY. "Litton writes about the extremes of pain and alienation suffered by the Vietnam veterans and about their search for reconnection and continuity. Everyone who has contact with them seems to agree that they are different from veterans of other wars. The American survivor of Vietnam carries within himself the special taint of his war. His sense of guilt concerns not only what he did or did not do, but his feelings about the overall project . This is an image of Vietnam as a war or 'grunts' immersed in filth rather than one of noble warriors on a path of glory. HOME FROM THE WAR is about the process of individual and collective transformation from war to peace. " Notes. Index. .

"Halvorsen cuts to the heart of our health system's failure: the incentives we offer doctors, hospitals, and insurers. We pay for procedures, not outcomes; we reward providers for what they do - whether it is effective or not - instead of for improving patient health. The result is the most wasteful, complex, redundant health care system in the wrold, where as much as 25 percent of all procedures performed are UNNECESSARY. Halvorson argues that we need the right incentives. If we reward quality and efficiency, the health care system will turn itself around to provide them. This lively, readable book combines the truths and eye-opening examples, with the best research and thinking on health care today. " ... Glossary. Notes. .
