A John Day book. Black boards with red imprint of Chinese characters; gilt lettering over red spine label. Previous owner's name pencilled on endpaper. A couple of minor marks on a few pages (example: p23, p xi) Lettering on spine slightly faded. Binding is solid.

New one volume edition was revised by the author in collaboration with Daniel Cory. The dark blue cloth cover boards with gilt printing on the spine are like new with very slight bumping at the top of the spine. The dust jacket is in fine condition, unclipped and in a mylar cover.
