Includes detailed sixteen-page introductory biography: "Life of Andersen". Green cloth boards, black embossed cover and spine design with vine and leaves. Title in the black book on front cover and Alta Edition in an outlined box lower middle of cover. On the spine is the title, the word, "Illustrated" and publisher's name which is not as clear as the other two. Cover and spine are faded and rubbed with edge wear. The ends of spine are fraying. Small chip on the back cover. Binding intact, but loose. First three pages have detached from the hinge. Interior clean and unmarked except for previous owner's name on two of the fly pages.
