Barney- Very Good Conditionhe Barney Family Historical Association is a non-profit family history society dedicated to preserving the heritage and history of the Barney Family throughout the world. Most researchers agree that the name BARNEY came from the small town of Berney (pronounced "Barney," and usually spelled Barney today) in Norfolk Co., England. Many have said the name is Norman, possibly derived from the norse BJARNE, meaning "Bear".
The Barney Family Historical Association, founded by William C. Barney in 1979, now has over 400 members, mostly in the United States and Canada, but also in Mexico, Colombia, Australia and England. In 1990, the association published the authoritative reference of Barney history and genealogy, the Genealogy of the Barned Family in America.
