Small pencilled previous owner's name to tp, page edges darkened, some pages tanned. Else a very sound, clean copy, no other marks. xxxiii, 256 + tissue guarded plates and index.

London: ICA (Institute of Contemporary Arts) in collaboration , 2003. Loose leaves in box. Fine/(Box) very good. Folio (43cm x 31cm). in the Neville Brody design, of a printed card box, which contains an artwork by each of the nine finalists for the 2003 Beck's Futures prize, printed on a folded sheet which measures 42cm x 59cm unfolded. The sheet has a small printed card stapled to the centre fold, with details of the artist and the work pictured. Shortlisted artists were Carey Young, Nick Crowe, David Sherry, Francis Upritchard, Lucy Skaer, the collective Inventory, Rosalind Nashashibi and Bernd Behr. Each sheet is in fine condition. With an unsealed envelope containing two stapled booklets, the first an interview with J G Ballard by Hans Ulrich Obrist, the other, an essay by art critic Michael Archer. All of the contents are in fine, as new condition. Box with light wear, nick to upper left hand tip, some minor spotting.

Oxford: Oxford at the Clarendon Press, 1964. First edition. Hardcover. Ex-Library/good. pp. 198. First two blank endpapers have had about a third of each page removed. With intermittent library stamps, no labels. Nevertheless, internally clean and little used. There is no protective sleeve to the dust jacket, which is not taped to the boards.

London and New York: John Lane The Bodley Head, 1898. First Edition. Printed wrappers. Good. 8vo., (17cm). Number Six in the Bodley Booklets series. pp. 118 [8]. To flyleaf, an old bookseller's pencilled note and what appears to be a name; on first blank, in a fine hand, the name Hugh M Tosh, dated 1908. The backstrip has worn away, with just a strip with the title remaining, and the rear wrapper is detached. Wrappers somewhat chipped, worn to tips, with creases to front, darkened, a few minor marks. Even so, if somewhat fragile, the binding is holding perfectly well. Rolfe's first major publication after Tarcissus some 18 years earlier and which launched his career as a writer.

With isbn number 0948454024 to rear cover, and with a different isbn to label affixed to copyright page (0948454040). A scarce commentary on the evolution of Chinese studies in Britain, from the perspective of libraries and academia by the former SOAS Professor of Chinese History.

Bar's introductory note is dated 1973, but there is no publication date. Some damp related cockling to early pages, a dozen pages or so to rear have developed minor dampstains, light wear to covers. Otherwise a clean, firm copy. Scarce: Library Hub records only one institutional copy, at SOAS. Khasi is one of the main spoken languages of Meghalaya state in northeastern India.
