Ethan and Epsey find Native American friends as well. It is the time of the American Revolution, and Native Americans are continually pressed further west. as the publisher states: "As the eight-year war develops, Ethan and Kindred find themselves in life-and-death combat with opposing forces." Fine/Good-. While the book itself is in excellent condition, the dust jacket has wear, including a gouge near the spine and a small tear in the middle of the top front cover. Julia says about this book in her Introduction: "[This book is] a summation, really, of my 25 years in the kitchen. In contrast to the formality of the two Masterings, which are intended to be textbooks of classical French cuisine and were, furthermore, written in collaboration, [it] is very personal and information...[bursting] into other directions as well. Therefore, she has brought us herself with what the publisher calls "the same consummate responsibility to the reader that make her books different from all the others--with the passion for accuracy, the determination to tell us everything we need to know." Shipped within 48 hours of confirmed purchase.

The Way to Cook

Julia Child

Fine/Fine. Illustrated throughout with color photography. In this cookbook, Julia combines French technique with American ways of cooking. She provides master recipes with variations from which the cook can choose. As she states in the Introduction: "While attitudes about food have changed through these last years, fortunately the principles of good cooking have not. The more one knows about it, the less mystery there is, and the easier it is to be creative and to embrace new trends and ideas--in addition, the more pleasure one has in the kitchen...I am aiming this, my seventh book, at the new generation of cooks who have not grown up in the old traditions, yet who need a basic knowledge of good food so that they may enjoy fresh, healthy home cooking. It is also directed to those who would like to cook but who have never dared even to string a fresh green bean. It is aimed, too, at old-timers who will find some new ideas here and certainly a new approach." Having this perspective and one of the first tele ... Read more

New. A Norton Professional Book. From the publisher: "This book describes the clinical application of the growing body of ideas and practices that has come to be known as narrative therapy. The primary focus is on the ways of working that have arisen among therapists who, inspired by the pioneering efforts of Michael White and David Epston, have organized their thinking around two metaphors: narrative and social construction. The authors are as concerned with attitude as with technique. Believing that a solid grounding in the worldview from which narrative practices spring is essential, they begin with an overview of the historical, philosophical, and ideological aspects of the narrative/social constructionist perspective. This involves also telling the story of their own development as particular therapists in a particular part of the world during a particular historical period. The heart of the book is devoted to specific clinical practices: locating problems in their sociocultural context, opening space fo ... Read more

As New. This reprint of this venerated journal is "No. 2101 of Smith's Pacific Northwest Americana"; as we are further advised in the journal's opening pages by the apparent original printer, "Medorem Crawford was one of the grand old pioneers of early Oregon. We have here a day to day account of his journey over the Oregon Trail in 1842 under the leadership first of Dr. Elijah White and later under Lansford Hastings. A few accounts found in connection with the journal are added. This booklet was printed at the Star Job Office, in Eugene, Oregon, 1897." Ye Galleon Press presents the journal as its reprint publication within a stunning tri-color screenprint. The cover is a continuous screenprint from back to front in gray over cream showing a scene of the wagon trail itself. The journal itself appears complete with Editorial Notes.Medorem Crawford was one of the most prominent pioneers of the Oregon Territory. This journal records his journey from New York to Oregon in 1842 in one of the largest wagon trains o ... Read more
