Mrs. Cate, who was a well known Coastal Georgia historian, who had published several books about the area. Mrs. Cate believed that the reprinting of Kemble's Journal of a Residence, which she claimed was full of errors, would exacerbate racial tensions(this was the era of the Civil Rights Movement, a good bit of which took place in Georgia). This pamphlet has been mentioned in several other publications since that time, most remarking only that the pamphlet was published to refute Ms. Kemble's journal, especially surrounding the character of some of the "management" at the time.
