It would be near fine apart from the fact that there are some penned notes written on one page at the rear in the allotted blank notes section. The black Leather binding is in very good condition and the gilt titling is very bright. Light toning to text block and the page edges. Two small stains to the lower text block which do not encroach onto the pages. Presentation copy with the company details of Edwards and Cleave Ltd. to the verso of the blank front end paper. There is also the Company's gilt motif to the front book cover. Lacking the very scarce dustjacket. The book is protected in a loose mylar cover. The follow up to R de Fleury's 1934 book titled '1700 Cocktails for the Man behind the Bar,' in which he attempted to compile recipes for every known cocktail to date. Very Scarce. The First UK printing of this illustrated edition published by Frederick Etchells & Hugh Macdonald, London in 1929. The BOOK is in Very Good++ or better condition. The limited issue of only 35 copies signed by Kauffer to the limitation page, this one unnumbered. Printed on T. H. Saunders mould-made paper, and bound in quarter morocco. There was also a trade edition of 500 copies unsigned on normal paper and bound in cloth. Original blue quarter morocco, titles to spine silver, blue buckram boards with Kauffer's design in silver to the front board, edges untrimmed. The morocco spine is slightly sunned and rubbed. Internally, apart from some offsetting to the endpapers, the book is clean and the binding remains tight. Frontispiece and 7 hand coloured illustrations by E. McKnight Kauffer, using the pochoir process. This deluxe signed issue is rare, with only two copies recorded at auction in the past 50 years. Light toning and spotting to the text-block with some of the spotting encroaching onto the page edges in a few places. Some spotting and light toning to the end-papers and prelims. A neat previous owner's penned name to the front blank end-paper. The binding remains tight. The fragile WRAPPER is complete and is in Very Good++ condition. Some edge wear with loss at the spine ends and corners. Some nicks and light creasing to the edges. A professional Japanese tissue repair to the verso of a closed tear to the lower front spine fold but no restoration. Light toning to the spine, folds and flap edges. The First UK printing published by Stanley, Paul & Co., London in 1915. The BOOK is in near Fine condition. Light pushing at the spine ends. The gilt tilting to the spine remains very bright. Light toning to the text-block and page edges. Mild offsetting to the end-papers. Free from inscriptions. The scarce WRAPPER is complete and is in Very Good++ condition. Priced '6/-' to the spine. Age related edge wear with some loss at the spine ends with some rubbing of the publisher's logo at the base of the spine. Some darkening to the spine and folds. A few small closed tears to the edges with a very small rubbed area to the middle of the front spine fold. The wrapper design looks striking in the removable Brodart archival cover. The first english translation of a late Dumas novel. Extremely scarce with the original wrapper. Accompanied by two loosely inserted publisher's promotional flyers for other titles. Collectible.
