Daemen also wrote lyrics for the Bussum pianist and singer Jacoba Craamer. She worked for some time in the studio of the famous glass artist Willem Bogtman. The elaborate text and charming period graphics are marketed for children, and reflect the author's infectious passion for all things birds. The catalogue contains advice on attracting birds, dealing with cats and squirrels, trapping sparrows, keeping birds in winter, proper feeding of birds, etc.; as well as constructing specialized bird houses and bird baths. Birding is described as a family hobby, of which the child plays a major part. "Make friends with our native birds - that is my message.
