Condition: Binding somewhat rubbed and creased at corners. Edges and contents somewhat stained.

First edition of Doves Press's second Catalogue Raisonné.
Description: Linen spine and blue paper-covered boards. Titled on the upper cover THE DOVES PRESS. Octavo: 24 × 17 cm; pp. [1], 12. Printed from 'Doves' type on 'Doves' paper. Paragraph marks, section headings, etc., in red.

Notes: The second Catalogue Raisonné (the first Catalogue Raisonné was published in 1908) includes books published to June 1911 and an introduction and additional comments by T. J. Cobden-Sanderson. 250 copies on paper. The final Catalogue Raisonné (1916) states the number of copies is 350, in error (Tidcombe). Boards showing some soiling and foxing, internally, clean, bright and free of marks. Generally a very good copy.

Description: Contemporary calf, with gilt titles and decoration to spine, raised bands. Contemporary marbled endpapers. Octavo: 25 × 19 cm; pp. [1] ll., xliv, 1-49, ii-xxix, [51]-484. With the frontispiece engraved by Chedel, and engraved by Nicolas Ozanne, 2 vignettes (one on the title page and one on the dedication page), 9 headpieces and 24 numbered plates (on 23 folding plates).

Condition: Binding shows some minor bumps and scuffs and a few surface abrasions. The joints are somewhat age brittle. Contents with occasional minor blemish but generally clean. Nonetheless a very good copy.
Notes: Duhamel du Monceau's manual is considered a milestone in the literature of naval architecture and shipbuilding. This second edition, with an additional chapter by the author himself, contains corrections and additional illustrations not included in the first edition of 1752.

Description: Paperback in glassine wraps. Duodecimo: 19.5 × 14 cm; pp. 149, [3], untrimmed. Illustrated with 6 full-page woodcuts, numerous head- and tailpieces, initials and culs-de-lampe by Gabrielle Faure, 1 etching (portrait of Georges Duhamel) and a facsimile of the handwritten preface on 2 folding plates.
Condition: The binding is in very good condition despite the slightly yellowed glassine wraps. Pages slightly toned with age. Nevertheless a very nice copy.
