Description:
Paris: Alphonse Picard, 1886. Hardcover. Very good. 8vo. viii, 243 pp., INTERLEAVED and ANNOTATED throughout. 2,776 lots. Contemporary French black and brown mottled boards, black roan spine with four raised bands, lettered direct in the second compartment. Lower hinge and recto of final endpaper repaired, evidence of waterstaining and old mold (now inactive) on final five leaves and endpaper. Not a good copy, but priced accordingly. Priced, interleaved, and profusely annotated copy that almost certainly belonged to the auctioneer or expert, in which are listed on the interleaved sheets the bids (in code) that were received. Emile Egger (1813-1885), eminent French philologist and Hellenist, was the author of the very successful "Histoire du livre depuis ses origines jusqu'Ă  nos jours" which was first published by Hetzel in 1880 and went through several editions. Highly curious.

Description:
London: Faber & Faber, 1952. First Edition. Very good. 8vo. xi, [1], 177, [1]. Original pale blue cloth, brown spine label, original dust-wrapper unclipped (a few trifle nicks, spine soiled, evidence of circular label at foot of spine). Preserved by a mylar sleeve. This bibliography features T.S. Eliot's presentation inscription to the poet and Dante scholar Edigio Guidobaldi: To Fr. Egidio Guidobaldi with the compliments of T.S. Eliot." According to Rare Book Hub, which currently lists more than 8 million records in the Rare Book Transactions History database, no similar copy has ever appeared at auction. The bibliography itself is a model of its kind, being a fundamental bibliographical analysis of the first and subsequent editions by Eliot, his contributions to periodicals, and foreign translations.
