The volume has light edgewear and a slight but noticeable spine lean. The unclipped, lightly edge rubbed, dust jacket has a waviness near the base of the front panel and two closed tears (1/4" & 1/16") at the head of the spine. The jacket, now sleeved in mylar, was initially wrapped off center causing a wider front flap (and obviously a narrower rear flap).

The State Historical Society of Colorado, 1932. Softcover. Very Good. Stapled wraps. All illustrated with photographs. Each publication has some degree of toning (No. 2 more so than the others), light wear, and occasional soiling. No. 2 has a small stain on the front cover.

The volume is bumped at the spine ends and corners, and the spine crown in a bit softened., The price clipped dust jacket, sleeved in mylar, is edge rubbed, shipped at the spine ends and corners with a 3/4" chip on the bottom front joint accompanied with associated creasing. There is light perimeter toning and occasional soiling.

The Telegraph Press, 1929. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good -. Signed. SIGNED by C. Hale Sipe on the second endpaper. Inserted into a pocket on the rear pastedown is a fine 10" x 13" folding map of Pennsylvania (the pocket advertises a 14" by 21" map). The volume is bumped at the corners and spine ends and there is some toning to the pages. The unclipped dust jacket is edge rubbed, chipped at the spine ends and corners, has some spotting and soiling (especially along the top edges), and is tape reinforced along the top edges. The jacket is now protected in mylar.

Boston: Ticknor and Fields, 1865. First Edition. Softcover. Very Good. Signed. First issue (without the publisher's announcement slip). Laid in are 4 autographed notes SIGNED by Edward Everett Hale. The wrappers are edge rubbed, and have a spine crown chip and a 2" split along the lower half. The text has light wear with a turned corner on the title page, and the author's name has been inked in on the title page. The volume is house in a fine custom chemise and quarter leather slipcase.

Hope Publishing House, 3/14/2007. First Edition. Softcover. Near Fine. Signed. SIGNED, without inscription, by Linda Hale Bucklin on the half title page. Both front and rear panels are creased parallel to the spine where they were opened to the glue line. Near fine in wraps.

James R. Osgood and Company, Boston, 1880. First Edition. Hardcover. Good. Green cloth stamped in gilt and black on spine and stamped in black on front panel. Tissue guarded frontispiece and 7 other illustrations (the last 3 on pages different than what is indicated in the list of illustrations). The volume is edge rubbed, worn at the spine ends, and there is a bit of a spine lean. Hinges are cracked, there is an inscription on the second endpaper, and the leaves are lightly toned.

Little, Brown, 1945. First Edition. Hardcover. Good/Fair-Good. Signed. SIGNED, without inscription, by James Norman Hall on the front endpaper. The volume is bumped at the spine ends, has a large chip on the penultimate endpaper which is attached to the last page of the text (was damaged in the cutting process) and there are narrow edge stains on the rear endpaper. A bookseller's label is affixed to the rear pastedown, a bookplate of collector John Carroll Collins isd affixed to the front pastedown and there is occasional foxing to the page edges. The price clipped dust jacket, is heavily edge worn, reinforced on the verso with tape, has closed tears and chips (to include one of 3/4" on the spine crown which affects the word "The" and the second "h" in "High"). There are abrasions along the joints and folds and perimeter toning and soiling throughout.

Privately Printed, 1853. Hardcover. Very Good -. Signed. Second edition. Inscribed, faintly, on the half-title by the editor (and father of Arthur Henry Hallam) to Mrs. [Sarah] Austin, a friend of the author. Contemporary red half morocco, marbled paper boards and matching endpapers, gilt rules and lettering; top edges gilt. Frontispiece. The volume is bumped on the corners and edge rubbed, with abrasions and loss of paper to the folds. Hinges are cracked between the endpapers and adjoining leaves, a bookplate resides on the rear pastedown, and there is light foxing on the preliminary and terminal leaves. Still, near very good and quite scarce.

The volume has a light spine lean, is bumped at the corners and the spine crown is worn. There is a small book binder's label on the rear pastedown, a small hole in the front gutter, and unfortunately, a jagged 3/4" strip is missing from the top of the frontis. We have made the book sound terrible, yet it presents very well.
