Phila.: Lea & Febiger, 1972. Book. Very Good. Hardcover. 1st Edition. Harold Goodglass & Edith Kaplan. 1972 1st edition of the book and 1st edition of the set of stimulus cards. The evaluation of language is one of the most important tasks of speech-language professionals from a variety of disciplines and backgrounds (neuropsychologists, occupational therapists, physicians, nurses, etc,). The assessment procedure is often the first contact with clients and also constitutes the starting point of all clinical interventions. Because of the absence of biological markers or simple assessment methods, the early detection or diagnosis of language problems remains dependent on various indirect assessments (i.e., language function must be inferred from the client ' s performance on various tasks devised to explore different areas of this function) aimed at identifying specific impairments and eliminating other possible causes. Approx. 8x10.5 inches, and in excellent condition. .

U.S.A.: Crown, 1996. Book. As New. Hardcover. Signed by Author(s). 1st Edition. 8vo - over 7¾. Porter Wren, a tabloid columnist specializing in the human face of death, has climbed to success in part by subverting a real talent for exposing corruption in the city. He has two precious kids, and is married to one of New York's best surgeons, but none of that seems to matter when beautiful Caroline Crowley approaches him at a party. He finds her mesmerizing and the story she tells of her husband, an acclaimed filmmaker whose body turned up in a building being demolished and whose murder remains unsolved, fascinating. Porter wants more of the story and of her; the next day she takes him to bed, then opens a trunk of tapes her husband left behind, videos that are clandestine scenes of real life and death. But the enigmatic Caroline wants more than Porter's help. She knows he can't refuse. He's already crossed the line--and on the run in an escalating nightmare of…

Each page has a single specimen mounted on one side only with cellophane tape. She records each specimen with its scientific name, common name, and a bottom page number. One specimen is labeled "Oak Grove Campus / Flint / Oct. 1949," thus locating this collection in time and place. The cellophane tape is mostly unobtrusive, but some of the evergreen specimens are heavily taped down. Two evergreen specimens lack some needles. The album is housed in a custom-made box, and is intentionally disbound for simpler handling. Overall, in excellent condition..

Description:
London: Macmillan & Co., 1898. Book. Near Fine. Half-Leather. Signed Maurice Hewlett. 1st Edition. 'The Forest Lovers' is set in France during the Romantic era, and the experiences of Prosper le Gai in the mysterious forest of Morgraunt. Prosper is a happy-go-lucky guy intent only upon adventure. A confirmed bachelor, happenstance suddenly compels him to marry a poor servant-girl in order to rescue her from being hanged as a witch, or handed over to a false monk. In the end his wife, Isoult la Desireé, proves to be the long-lost daughter of the Countess Isabel, Countess of Hauterive and Lady of Morgraunt. The motive of the story is the triumphant progress of Isoult's love for her knight and lord. The book is well named, as the mysterious enchantment of the forest plays an important part in this medieval romance, and the author has succeeded in combining real human interest with his fantastic setting. The spirit of the allegory pervades the work and evokes the atmosphere of…

"With Earthly Measures, Edward Hirsch breaks through the ring of fire and captures his Muse. The voice is now uncannily his own; uncanny because we believe we have heard it before, yet the accents are unearthly and utterly fresh. Like his poem on Art Pepper, this voice also hears the chords of Stevens and Celan, but knows that 'play solo means going on alone, improvising.'" -Harold Bloom.
