Spine is sun faded. Interior has ancient owner's name on front blank, a few stray pencil marks. Foxing is present is intermittent with most at front and back. Paginates: frontis, vi, 375 Field 324. This volume is his collection of stories from the native American peoples and early settlers of the Northeast. These reside at the intersection of history and myth. Paginates complete with all images and maps (13 European, 8 Inuit). Large folding map in rear pocket backed with linen, two panels with marbled paper over linen. Frontis portrait is heavy brittle stock and looks to have been reattached. Excellent interior with no ownership markings, no foxing, all images bright. Binding is sound. Boards show moderate patina, stains, etc but gilt remains bright. Old spine laid down over matching cloth looks rough but is not fragile. Arctic Biblio 6486. Uncommon Cook Islands magazine from 1968. Volume is used in good condition: shows moderate wear to wraps, much apparent use, no interior writing or markings. Looking at this you would expect to find quite a few of these magazines but you won't, especially in US. Notable for the photos from 1960's that will not be found elsewhere. Second edition, full leather, Troy, New York, 1797. Includes the occasionally missing frontis. Condition is Good or better: original full leather boards in above average condition with modest general wear. Only the bottom front corners show slightly more than minimal wear. The other corners, edges, spine and hinges are sound. Binding is sound. Leather label on spine still legible although that is not well seen on images. Interior is likewise in good condition. Only writing is old faded ink signature on back free blank. No other writing; mild to moderate foxing throughout. The laid cotton paper pages are still supple and easily read. The title page has a 3 inch closed tear expertly repaired (see image). There are some minor edge tears seen throughout but none affecting text. Paginates: blanks(2), frontis, (i)-180, blank(1). A note about the murky origins of this volume: I believe this volume is derived from "Great Historical Mutinies" published by Nimmo in London, 1876. Nimmo published an abridged version in the 1890's in Edinburgh. This Li-Quor copy has exactly the same text as Nimmo abridged edition; the only difference being the order of the mutinies. Author is likely David Herbert who is listed as author in early editions of "Great Historical Mutinies." Please see scans of the book you will receive.
