Book-Of-The-Month premium edition, finely bound in brick red cloth with gilt front board illustration, decorative endpapers, and set in type designed by Lucian Bernhard. Fine, in the original illustrated slipcase in Near Fine condition. Clean, crisp, bright and sharp. A handsome copy.

A scholarly examination of the Kraus 13th century illuminated English "Bestiary" or "Animal Book," used in the middle ages as a means of educating laymen in the science of natural history and as a method for instilling Christian morals and doctrine.
