Ron Thomason, 1979. First Edition. Soft Cover. Very Good binding. Ron Thomason's Lonesome is a Car Up on Blocks, with illustrations by Camilla Thomason. Twice awarded Teacher of the Year in his district, as a high school English and Mathematics teacher in Ohio, Thomason is best known as a bluegrass musician, with his band the Dry Branch Fire Squad. A book of 'Lonesome is...' statements, referencing aspects of country life in mountainous Appalachia, and illustrating the different aspects of 'lonesome', but not lonely, country life. Red staining to the rear cover, and light soiling to the wrappers. Stapled pamphlet, with printed blue paper wrappers. Very Good. [2], 34 pp. Uncommon, OCLC notes only two institutional copies. (Ted Lehmann No Depression "Ron Thomason: A National Treasure" ). Very Good binding.

Quarto; in tan cloth with a colorful pastedown to the upper board; 155 pages, with 8 unnumbered leaves of color plates and a number of black and white plates as well; printed with the text in all capital letters; there is some quite minor bubbling at the bottom of the front board; with pictorial endpapers; there is a previous owner name on the front endpaper. Very Good binding.

XXX".~~This copy with foxing throughout; in marbled boards. An interesting binding, quarter bound with marbled paper, over the same marbled paper boards, with tape where the quarter marbled paper joined the marbled boards; There is loss to the red tape. With pastedown to the rear board with the author's name, and pastedown to the front board with the title. There is a small split to the textblock, but everything is holding well. Good binding.

First twenty four volumes of Fores's Sporting Notes and Sketches, focusing mainly on horseback riding and racing, along with some other sports. Attractive illustrated plates throughout, thirty two in each volume, in a charcoal sketch style; also with photographic plates. Foxing to some preliminaries. Front hinge of Volume I and XII is cracked but holding well, and the top of the front joint of Vol. XXIII is discretely repaired by a conservator. The spines are sunned and faded, though the decorated front boards are generally quite bright. Silverfishing to some of the volumes. Red cloth, decorated in gilt and black. All edges gilt. Generally in Very Good condition. Very Good binding.

With a frontispiece protected with tissue guard. There are no marks in this sturdy and quite serviceable copy. There are full page black and white plates throughout.~~An account of the doings of a Presbyterian missionary in the New Hebrides, "Told for Young Folks". Very Good binding.

Polished calf with contrasting morocco labels; double rules with stops at the perimeters of the boards; dentelles; top edge gilt. Original cloth binding bound in at the rear. Very Good binding.

The dustjacket flap lists "The Land of No Shadow" as the third listing the in the Adventures in the Unknown Series. The dustjacket has moderate wear and closed tears is pretty much intact. Three large 8vo. volumes; in the publisher's green cloth bindings, with a vignette of arabic motif stamped to the center of each blind embossed board; Volume I has loss to the front endpaper where it had adhered to the pastedown; xxxii, [1],2-618 pages, [4]; xii, 643 pages, [3]; xii, 763 pages, [3]; each volume with an additional engraved half-title page; the front hinge of Volume II is a bit wobbly, but holding well.~~Volume I has been rebacked, and retains the original (slightly trimmed) spine.~~A copiously illustrated edition of The Thousand and One Nights, translated by Edward William Lane, with frequent in text engraved illustrations by William Harvey. Complete in three volumes. Very Good binding.

Large 8vo.; in publisher's pictorial boards, with dustjacket; [3],4-64 pages; this copy is signed with an inscription "as Jeremy Mouse" by illustrator Hilary Knight; the dusjtacket is bright and attractive, but has been price-clipped.~~The inscription reads: "Jeremy Mouse says ... | This book is for Carla Ann".~~Hilary Knight is one the great illsutrator of children's books in our era -- especially known for the Eloise books, and Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle books as well. In this case he collaborated with Richard Scarry's widoe. Near Fine binding / Very Good dust jacket.

The text was freely edited from the 1871 edition of Johnson's Natural History. The paper is handmade Mulberry, with an additional suite of wood engravings printed on Moriki. The type is handset Arrighi. Composition, printing, and wood engravings by Anne O'Connor."~~The book laid in a brown cloth covered tray case, with a morocco label.~~With a handwritten letter from Ms. O'Connor to Bromer Booksellers regarding copies of the book. Fine binding.

Bound in pictorial boards backed in blue cloth. The boards have minor shelfwear. Discreetly rebacked; the textblock extrudes a small amount beyond the boards. Very Good binding.

Very Good binding/Very Good dust jacket. 8vo.; in publisher's red cloth binding, slightly cocked; with the uncommon dustjacket with illustration by Eric Ravilious; the dustjacket has not been price-clipped; is has a small chip and an internal closed tear to the spine; top corner of the front panel with residue of a long-gone sticker; the endpapers are toned but there are no ownership or other marks in the book; with 34 woodcut illustrations, decorations and vignettes by Ravilious, three of which are full page, including the frontispiece. ~~Desert recounts the struggles of Malchus, a wealthy Alexandrian who becomes a hermit, is a novel by the prolific writer and poet Martin Armstrong.
