[1] and a cover sheet. Published date of 1780 from publisher's catalogue on p. [1] which credits "Longman & Broderip" as the printer and seller in title heading (ref. Krummel [Norton, 1990] p. 323 "...Lukey withdrew from the business in 1776 and the firm remained as Longman & Broderip until it's bankrupycy in 1798.") ; publisher's catalogue p. [1] also showing "Jackson's Quartetts Opus 11" (with a pub. date of 1775?) under "Vocal Music" section, thus assume this to be the 1780 (Opus 13) printing of Jackson's Twelve Canzonets. Denver, CO: William Henry Jackson, 1880. Unmounted Photograph. Fine. A circa 1880 albumen photograph of the H.A.W. Tabor Building in Denver, Colorado. The building has "H.A.W. TABOR" chiseled in stone at center of building, just under the roof line directly above the main entrance. Photo with "441 TABOR BLOCK. DENVER." written in negative at lower left corner. Some other visible details are a Watchmaker's pocket watch-shaped sign and an optician's eye glasses-shaped sign, as well as some major construction underway on the building next door, much surrounding advertising, people, and horse-drawn wagons. Photo measures 4 x 6.5 inches wide, has some fading near edges and to caption, the number "30" is written in pencil on verso, else a fine, unmounted photo. B&W photo reproductions, tables, index, appendices and a large fold-out map titled "Sketch Map of Alaska Prepared for U.S. Bureau of Education... 1893" bound in at p. 133. Fold-out map is fine. Volume w. light wear and ffep excised, frontis verso w. period owners name in black fountain pen ink, else clean and unmarked throughout. An intriguing story. "When in the year 1890 I visited arctic Alaska for the purpose of establishing schools, I found the Eskimo population slowly dying off with starvation... During the summer of 1892 I made five visits to Siberia, purchasing and transporting to Port Clarence 171 head of Reindeer.

Covers bumped and worn with small stains, slight tilt, small bumps to text block fore-edge, leaves next to feps toned. An early work on South Australian sheep ranching with lots of great ads for competing breeders, machinery and hardware merchants.

Victoria, BC: B. Jenkins. Photograph. Good. A nice early image of the first cemetery created for the sole use of Victoria's Chinese Canadian residents taken circa early to mid 1900s. An original gelatin silver print measuring 4-5/8 inches tall x 6-3/4 inches wide, mounted on card stock measuring 9 x 11 inches wide, signed at bottom right "BJ" and titled at bottom left "Chinese Cemetery. Victoria, B.C." with the photographers rubber-stamp verso "Photographed by B Jenkins Victoria, B.C.". Card stock with soil, stains and toning, print toned w. silver mirroring to edges. Image offers interesting details of the stone altar, the many still extant headstones looking out to sea and a Chinese pagoda not seen in later photos. Quarter black cloth with brown paper over stiff card, sewn binding with string bound wax seal sewn through textblock, narrow 16mo (5-7/8 inches tall), pp. [1]-48, pages 1-6 with printed text, 7-10 with manuscript references, rest are blank. Volume with light wear, some toning, occasional spotting and a few light creases.
