Twayne ; Toronto, Jan 1993. Paperback. Apparently unread book is in nice shape with tight binding and no significant wear to pages. Cover shows shows no specific flaws, but just a little handling wear, just enough to refrain from calling this copy “new”.

1943. Hardcover. Book is in good but imperfect condition; it's complete and solid, but shows a little yellowing to pages, one page with a wrinkled corner (the page on Albenz), and a little general wear to the cover.

1965. Hardcover. Book is solid with no rips, marks, or folds to its nice white pages. Dust jacket has a small amount of general handling wear, but a 1” tear is the only significant specific flaw. A very nice copy of this book.

1974. Hardcover. Interior is clean with nearly-white pages and no rips, bends, or marks. Dust jacket is solid, with no significant damage, save for noticeable sunlight discoloration along the spine.

1965. Hardcover. Book and dust jacket are tight and in good shape, but the jacket has noticeable yellowing along the spine and top edge of the cover from light. Due to a printing error, two pages inside weren't cut properly and show wear from being separated.

1966. Hardcover. Book and dust jacket in nice, tight condition. Book plate on inside of front cover. Some underlining and a few handwritten notes on roughly 20 pages (quick count). A little wear around edges of dust jacket.

Doubleday and Company, 1947. Hardcover. 1953 printing with wood engravings by Nora S. Unwin. Book is in nice shape with no rips, marks, or folds to pages. Dust jacket shows moderate wear with general wrinkling and small tears around the edges, plus a bit of age or sunlight-related yellowing.

Hardcover. Binding is intact and all pages are clean, but a bit yellowed with age. Cover shows a moderate amount of general wear from being passed around for 110 years, but is still sturdy. Inscription on front page marks it as a gift from Christmas, 1911.

1954. Hardcover. This giant book is in good shape with no rips, marks, or folds to the pages. Pages have a very slight yellowing at the edges due to age. Binding is solid, but cover has a little general handling wear, not much.
