Berlin, Akademie Verlag, 1956-1959. Three parts in three. 8vo (25.1 x 17.6 cm). 150 pp. [62;44;44]; 111 plates [1-31;1-36, 3B, 5B, 6B, 15B, 16B, 19B ;1-38], 70 text figures (page-sized), one folded table, one folded map in rear pocket. Original uniform printed wrappers and belly bands. = A rare, complete set of this profusely illustrated monograph on European fossil deer, written by the German palaeontologist Hans-Dietrich Kahlke (1924-2017). The third and rarest part was announced on the belly bands of parts I and II as containing "die übrigen Skelett-Teile". This was changed into "Die postkranialen Skelettreste" when published. A printed strip around the cover (present for all three parts) states "Mit Teil III ... ist das werk abgeschlossen". Suggestions that this work should be complete in two parts are, therefore, incorrect. An excellent set.
