A printing of some of this poet's most highly regarded work, including the dramatic allegory Debat de Folie et D'Amour, as well as poetry reflecting on themes of longing, passion and love, some of which contained somewhat frank expressions when originally written in the 1500s. Louise Labe was a poet during the French Renaissance, whose work is often praised for its progressive portrayal of women in that era. FINE book in a VERY GOOD case. No visible wear to the book. Slipcase and folder faded, rather heavy along the extremities and spine. Very light soiling and edgewear to the case.
